I teamed up with three of my peers to complete this client project during the third year of the Visual Communication program at The Design School. We focused on rebranding ACMRS by drawing a connection between that period of time and the present. During Medieval Times and the Renaissance, the peacock was a symbol of pride. As ACMRS is an educational organization, we incorporated a book into the logo design.
The previous logo was a photo that did not translate well on things like books and pamphlets. After conducting some research on the Renaissance period, we found that the peacock is a symbol of immortality. We thought this would play well with education, as it will forever hold great significance in all cultures. We all came up with ideas separately and chose the best ones to iterate on and present. The designs, especially the Celtic peacock, required a great deal of hand sketching. The best way that I've found to tackle logo design is to draw by hand, make a photo copy, and make revisions on top of that. I repeat this process until the work is ready for the computer.
My contributions to the designs are the a peacock shown in the middle with a book and the Celtic peacock.
