Global Culture Committee

Amazon Black Employee Network

As the Co-leadfor the Global Culture Committee and active member of the Bay Area Chapter of BEN, I contribute to internal programming, social events, membership, & culture initiatives, and design needs. I have served not only BEN in these responsibilities, but Global DEI and Women@ affinity groups.

One of my favorite projects was this very last minute ask (I mean, LAST minute… I shot it on my phone) to create a video that celebrate the members of the organization. I filmed this at our employee-organized Juneteenth Crab Boil.

Improving Diversity in Tech in Colorado

Blerd - Core Member + Art Director

Technology is often very homogenous in culture. Along with a group of peers in the tech community, I help run a state-wide affinity group for Blacks in tech—Blerd-Colorado. We have organized Happy Hours, meetups, trivia nights, and a multitude of panels and talks, all centered around creating a more inclusive tech culture in Denver and beyond. I serve as the Brand Director and Event Coordinator for this group. I’m in charge of collateral and using brand and design to curate our events. One of our most noteworthy events was at Denver Startup Week, called Hired: A Tech Recruiter Panel, featuring technical recruiters from Google, Slack, TEK Systems, and Twitter. Our event gathered more than 400 people in tech and those aspiring to be.

Reenvisioning work at Transamerica

Transamerica, being new to the tech space, was struggling to evolve to modern-day standards for the workplace environment, and thus had a hard time with recruiting and retaining tech roles. As the digital team continued to make waves and root themselves in the Denver tech scene, team members expressed their thoughts and vision for the great potential for growth that Transamerica had. I interviewed teammates on the digital team, researched competitors as well as office interior design and attended Denver Design Week sessions to see opportunities for improvement.
